Tolland (Connecticut) Town Manager Michael Rosen, left, and council Chairwoman Tammy Nuccio, right, pose with Carnegie Hero Edward S. Cyr after presenting the Carnegie Medal to him at the town office on Jan. 7, 2021. Cyr, then a 57-year-old telecommunications technician, saved a 66-year-old man from burning inside an SUV on Nov. 1, 2019. He partially entered the vehicle, leaned across the man to release his seat belt as flames from the rear licked the back of the front seats, and then removed him from the car. “It is truly an honor to have you in our midst,” Nuccio said during the presentation. “I’m proud of you.”
