Agnes M. Van Tassell attempted to save Costantino Alfonso and Frank C. Silvestre from drowning, Wappingers Falls, New York, January 21, 1933. (See case of CARMINE DI DOMIZIO, JR.) Miss Van Tassell, 15, schoolgirl, followed Carmine on the ice to cooperate in rendering aid to Costantino and Frank. After breaking through into deep water, she broke ice and swam 10 feet to open water four feet deep. Although suffering from shock, she then waded a few feet closer to Carmine, extended the branch to him, and pulled him close to the bank. 32746-2769
