Alan A. Roehm, 18, electrician’s apprentice, saved Harold, 7, and Wallace W. Gore, 14, schoolboys, from drowning, Liverpool, New York, July 24, 1927. Harold fell out of a rowboat into the Seneca River at a point 60 feet from the bank. Wallace jumped from the boat in an effort to aid him, and Harold grasped Wallace around the neck. Fully clothed, Roehm swam from the bank to them. As he took hold of Harold, Harold grabbed him around the neck with both arms and continued to cling to him. Roehm then took hold of Wallace, and with one arm free he swam with great difficulty 60 feet to wadable water. 27497-2201
