Albert A. Slaline, 21, huckster, died attempting to save John M. Morehouse, 15, student, from drowning, Miamiville, Ohio, July 4, 1919. While swimming with a young woman in the Little Miami River to aid her to the bank, John went under the surface momentarily, became frightened, lost control of himself, and called for help. The young woman became separated from him and swam to the bank. Slaline swam 60 feet to John, and John put his arm around Slaline’s neck and bore his weight on Slaline. Slaline called for help. Others swam to their assistance, and John was saved, but Slaline was drowned. 19706-1552
