Albert James Cox, 41, shipping room superintendent, died attempting to save Jack K. Commons, 10, from drowning, Trenton, Michigan, July 26, 1928. While Jack was swimming in the Detroit River, he got into difficulty in water six feet deep 40 feet from the bank. Cox, who could not swim, waded to a point 25 feet from the bank, where the water came to the tops of his shoulders, and then plunged into deeper water farther from the bank. He sank without reaching Jack, and both were drowned. 28480-2371
