Albin E. Hultberg died attempting to save Ella Goodard from drowning, Warren, Pennsylvania, July 23, 1933. While Mrs. Goodard, 34, and three men were riding on the Allegheny River in a boat, which Mrs. Goodard was rowing, the boat capsized in the middle of the river. Two of the men started to swim to the bank, and the other man soon sank and was drowned. Hultberg, 46, machinist, who had not swum for years and who was fully clothed, waded from the bank and then swam 175 feet to Mrs. Goodard. A struggle ensued, and both moved together toward the bank, Hultberg making swimming strokes with one arm and being low in the water. When they were 80 feet from the bank, both sank and were drowned. The other two men saved themselves.
