Alfred W. Copas rescued Robert D. and Maxine L. Price from burning, Romeland, California, May 16, 1973. When their automobile rolled over onto its top and flames broke out at the rear end, to which was attached a trailer carrying two propane tanks, Price, 59, and his wife, 51, were unable to get out. Copas, 59, carpenter, ran to the inverted automobile and broke a window. When Price put his legs through the window opening, Copas pulled him out. Copas then grasped Mrs. Price, who was crawling through the window, and pulled her out. While he was doing so, a propane tank exploded, spreading flames throughout the automobile. Price and his wife had been burned extensively Copas had sustained minor burns. All recovered.
