Anna Katherine Trice saved Thomas A. Grubbs and helped to save Richard W. Wade from drowning, Hopkinsville, Kentucky, September 14, 1931. Anna, 17, schoolgirl, swam 10 feet to Thomas, 16, schoolboy, and took hold of his hair. He grabbed her, and after a struggle in which both were submerged three or four times, she got free of his hold and towed him as she swam 15 feet to the boat. She then swam 10 feet to Wade, 21, photograph finisher, as Miss Lyne was trying to aid him. Wade grasped her dress. She shoved him away, grasped his hair, and towed him ten feet to the boat. Miss Lyne retained her hold on Wade and helped to place him on the boat. (See case of M. HUGH KELLY.) 31698-2657
