Anthony J. Langhammer, 18, machinist’s apprentice, saved Edward Yung, 10, from drowning, Dayton, Kentucky, August 8, 1909. Langhammer dived from a skiff in the middle of the Ohio River, grabbed Edward, who, having been upset from a yawl by the paddlewheel of a steamer, was under the overhang eight feet from the hull and fourteen feet aft of the wheel, which had just stopped turning. Langhammer swam with Edward to a launch. 4176-326
