Archibald A. Rogers, 27, salesman, saved Robert E. Jenkins, 8, from drowning, Long Beach, Maine, July 21, 1922. Robert was carried by an undertow into deep water in the Atlantic Ocean. Rogers waded from shore and swam 130 feet to him. He took hold of Robert, but Robert flung both arms around his neck, and both were submerged momentarily several times before Rogers freed himself. He then swam with Robert, who was unconscious, 100 feet through a heavy surf and walked on the bottom a few feet to wadable water, where he was relieved. He reached shore exhausted. Robert was revived. 22616-1937
