Arnold K. Eisenring, 27, blacksmith’s helper, died as the result of saving F. Cecil Dodwell, 17, lens blocker, from drowning, Belleville, Ontario, June 12, 1927. Cecil jumped from a boat into deep water in the Bay of Quinte at a point 180 feet from shore. As he swam toward shore, he was seized with cramp and called for help. Eisenring, who had jumped from the boat after Cecil and had swum to shore, swam 120 feet to Cecil and then swam about 20 feet toward shore with him. He was swimming low in the water. A motorboat then passed close to them, and Cecil was pulled from Eisenring’s back into the boat. Before the boat could again be maneuvered close to Eisenring, he sank and was drowned. 27287-2265
