Arnold W. Braun, 42, retired farmer, died attempting to save Bobby O. Colly, 18, from drowning and electric shock, Bonus, Texas, August 28, 1938. While swimming in a pool, the water of which accidentally had become charged with electricity from the steel leg of a diving tower which was in contact with an electric wire carrying 110 volts, Miss Colly sank near the tower in water nine feet deep eight feet from the side of the pool. A man who was unaware of the electricity jumped into the pool near the tower, received a shock, and took hold of a rope that hung down from the tower. He called to Braun not to enter the water, stating it was charged with electricity. Braun dived into the pool, swam three feet toward Miss Colly, and then swam five feet to a point near the leg of the tower, splashing feebly. The current was turned off, and Braun was pulled from the pool. He could not be revived. A short time later Miss Colly was removed from the water but could not be revived.
