Arthur E. Fitch, 52, bank cashier, died attempting to save Ruth F. Oakes, 60, from being killed by a train, Medford, Massachusetts, November 19, 1918. Mrs.Oakes, who was somewhat deaf, began walking across a track on which a passenger train was approaching at a speed of 45 m.p.h.
