Arthur Eugene Burke, 16, school-boy, saved John Wilson, 76, from being killed by a train, Girard, Illinois, March 2, 1939. Wilson walked rapidly toward a track on which a train was approaching at a speed of 60 m.p.h. From a point a few feet on the opposite side of the track Burke ran 10 feet to Wilson, crossing the track, grasped Wilson, and forced him down and away from the track. Burke fell on top of him; and he cleared the train, which did not reduce speed, by about five feet.
