Arthur J. Palestini saved Bong Hee and Choon Ja Kang from homicidal attack, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, March 19, 1984. Kang, 45, and his wife, 42, were in their grocery market shortly after opening when a 17-year-old male entered the store and pointed a revolver at Mrs. Kang. He demanded money, then turned to Kang and started to fire, wounding Kang twice. On hearing shots, Palestini, 39, newspaper truck driver arriving at the store to make a delivery, charged into the market and struck the assailant, dazing him. In an ensuing struggle, the assailant dropped the handgun, and Palestini subdued and held him until police arrived and took him into custody. Kang was hospitalized in critical condition and underwent surgery, but he recovered.
