Arthur V. Rossier, 26, farmer, died saving Napoleon E. Mailhot, 18, farmer, from drowning, Westmore, Vermont, August 31, 1919. While swimming in Willoughby Lake 150 feet from shore, Mailhot let down to rest where the water was eight feet deep. He was submerged, rose, and threshed wildly . Rossier swam 15 feet to Mailhot, and Mailhot grasped Rossier, got on his back, and forced him under water. Rossier swam under water about 12 feet, and Mailhot got off Rossier’s back and stood in neck deep water. Rossier did not emerge and was drowned. 20002-1627
