August Wesley, 27, steam shovel workman, died helping attempt to save two men from suffocation in a mine, Bingham Canyon, Utah, November 21, 1908. An unconscious man having been rescued from a level of a copper mine known to be full of deadly gas, Wesley went along with two other men into the level for the purpose of rescuing two men who were supposed to have accompanied the first man. Wesley was overcome, and his dead body was later found about 45 feet from the entrance. His two companions were found nearby, they too had died. It was subsequently discovered that the sought-for men were not in the dangerous part of the mine. 6041-485
