Augusta B. Brown saved Jack R. Wisley from a runaway, Webb City, Missouri, July 12, 1916. Two runaway horses, hitched to a wagon and without a driver, ran at a speed of 15 m.p.h. toward Jack, 7, who stood just outside a low paling-fence. When the team was about 20 feet from him, Mrs. Brown, 41, homemaker, who was on the other side of the fence, ran to the fence. Reaching over the fence, she grabbed Jack, lifted him over it, and stepped back from it. The horses crashed through the fence and one of them struck Mrs. Brown, but neither she nor Jack was injured. 17029-1414
