B. Carlton Flowers, 47, merchant, died attempting to save Katie D. Adams, 32, from drowning, Juno, Texas, July 16, 1916. Mrs. Adams became distressed 30 feet from the bank of Beaver Lake, where the water was about 10 feet deep, and Flowers swam to her from the bank without removing any clothing. He was seized by her, and they sank together but rose separately. Flowers sank again and was drowned. Another man tried to rescue Mrs. Adams, but he broke away when she grasped him, and she was drowned also. 16816-1256
