Barbara H. Muller helped to save Lucy W. Holley from drowning, Sullivans Island, South Carolina, July 13, 1928. While Mrs. Holley, 24, was bathing in the Atlantic Ocean, she was carried by a current to a point 600 feet from shore. After several young men had failed to reach her, Miss Muller, 22, student, swam 425 feet to her and then with great exertion swam 20 feet toward shore with her. A young man, who had swum from shore, then met them, and with the greatest effort he and Miss Muller swam with Mrs. Holley 400 feet to wadable water. Miss Muller collapsed and was taken to shore by others. She recovered.
