Benjamin E. Arnold, 26, clerk, died attempting to save Hulda Krueger, 24, from drowning, Hubert, Minnesota, July 5, 1916. Miss Krueger became distressed in Clark Lake, where the water was 12 feet deep. A girl swam to her but was seized and submerged by Miss Krueger, and the girl freed herself and swam to a bar 15 feet away. Arnold then swam 50 feet to Miss Krueger, but she seized him and kept him under water in an effort to support herself. A man reached them with a boat, and they were gotten into it. Miss Krueger was then unconscious, but she soon revived. Efforts to revive Arnold were fruitless. 16672-1343
