Benjamin J. Cottle, 24, drug clerk, rescued Morris M. Caldwell, Jr., 3, from a runaway, Wilmington, North Carolina, August 28, 1910. Cottle, who had little knowledge of the handling of horses, grasped the rein, beside the bit, of a spirited horse drawing a light wagon containing the child. After being jerked along, at times off his feet, for 175 feet, he succeeded in stopping it. The child was not injured. 5557-467
