Bernard D. Connelly, 40, attorney, saved Charlotte R. Chamberlin, 22, from drowning, Le Claire, Louisiana, June 29, 1906. Connelly, a poor swimmer, jumped from a boat into the Mississippi River 400 feet from shore to aid Miss Chamberlin, who had been upset from a launch. He supported her until they had drifted over 400 feet, when they were picked up. 3539-344
