Bernard Rubin, 46, teacher, saved Sadie J. Weiser, 29, from drowning, Belmar, New Jersey, August 19, 1916. Although warned by Rubin that the surf was dangerously rough, Miss Weiser swam out in the Atlantic Ocean and became distressed when she tried to return against the current. Rubin swam out and reached her 170 feet beyond wadable water. After swimming with all his strength for about 15 minutes, he succeeded in reaching a wadable point with Miss Weiser.
