Bernhard Schneider, Sr., 43, farmer, died saving Robert A. Iffrig, 14, farmer, from drowning, St. Peters, Missouri, July 28, 1911. Schneider went to the assistance of Robert, who, unable to swim, had stepped into a hole in Dardenne Creek, where the water was 14 feet deep. As he reached the edge of the hole and caught hold of Robert, Schneider, also unable to swim, slipped into water over his depth, and both went beneath the surface. When they came up, Schneider pushed Robert toward the bank and then sank and did not reappear. Robert was pulled out by a boy who extended a stick to him. 7224-565
