Bill J. Saak helped to save Robin R. Pierce from burning, Nichols Hills, Oklahoma, October 20, 1978. Miss Pierce, 22, was injured in a highway accident and was trapped in her automobile with the engine afire. Saak, 51, hospital chaplain, went to her aid despite a coronary condition. Unable to reach Miss Pierce through the window, Saak climbed onto the top of the automobile, removed its sunroof, and entered the vehicle. After Saak had freed Miss Pierce with difficulty, two men reached in through the window and aided in removing her. Saak climbed part way out through the sun roof and then collapsed. Others removed him. Miss Pierce was hospitalized for injuries, Saak for coronary observation. Both recovered.
