Byron P. Van Orman, 25, clerk, rescued Jane M., 51, and Thomas E., 19, and Frank K. Benham, 17, students, from a runaway, Canandaigua, New York, March 15, 1909. Van Orman ran into the street and grabbed the horse by the rein but was thrown to the brick paving, dragged 10 feet, and then run over by the surrey containing the Benhams. The horse also fell, and others held it down. Van Orman sustained sprains, cuts and bruises. 3602-381
