C. Henry Carr, 15, schoolboy, died attempting to save George H. Cronin, 17, relaster’s helper, from drowning, Lynn, Massachusetts, July 2, 1912. George, who could not swim, got into deep water 25 feet from the bank of Flax Pond and went beneath the surface. When he came up, he called for help, and Henry, who could swim a few strokes and was near, immediately swam to him and grasped him by the hair. George then grabbed Henry’s arm with both hands, and both sank and were drowned. 8802-710
