Carl W. Edwards, Jr., rescued Gertrude M. Christensen from assault, Anaheim, California, November 18, 1983. Mrs. Christensen, 69, was about to enter her parked car when a man approached and began to beat and stab her. Edwards, 31, bricklayer, was parking his car nearby when he heard Mrs. Christensen scream. He ran to the assailant and seized him. In the ensuing scuffle, Edwards was stabbed twice by the assailant, who then ran away but was later apprehended. Mrs. Christensen and Edwards were taken to the hospital for treatment of their wounds, from which they recovered.
