Carlos W. Hancher rescued Leonard L. Sims from electric shock, Gaysport, Ohio, September 11, 1975. While attempting to make an adjustment at an electrical junction box, Sims, 57, received an electrical charge that rendered him unconscious and frozen in contact with a high-voltage line. Hancher, 51, coal company shovel operator, removed his leather belt, looped it around Sims’s ankle, and jerked him free of the electrical contact. Sims recovered after hospitalization for severe electrical burns.
