Carnie G. Logue, 14, schoolboy, saved Carmen E. Hampton and John Rix, both 12, from drowning, San Antonio, Texas, May 15, 1915. Carmen, who could swim but a stroke or two, got into water about seven feet deep, 23 feet from the bank of the San Antonio River. John went close to her, and she seized him, and both sank. Carnie, who was smaller than Carmen, dived from the bank, swam to them, got between them, and put an arm around each. Unable to swim with them, he let himself sink and waded under water 12 feet with them to shallow water. 15150-1204
