Caroline J. Weber saved Nola G. Clements from drowning, Catawissa, Pennsylvania, September 13, 1931. Miss Clements, 24, slipped from a rock ledge into Roaring Creek, where the water was nine feet deep, and drifted to a point 17 feet from the bank. Caroline, 16, schoolgirl, swam 15 feet and took hold of Miss Clements, who was panic stricken. After a struggle, during which both went under the surface twice, Miss Clements became unconscious. Towing her, Caroline swam 15 feet to the ledge but could not get her upon it. A little later a man arrived and pulled Miss Clements out of the water. Caroline rested a little, then crawled out of the water and aided in reviving Miss Clements. Caroline suffered from overexertion and was disabled for several months.
