Catherine E. Riordan saved Grace E. Sullivan from drowning, Worcester, Massachusetts, July 28, 1916. Miss Sullivan, 22, lost control of herself while she was swimming in Lake Quinsigamond 30 feet from the bank. Catherine, 12, schoolgirl, who was much smaller than Miss Sullivan and who was afraid to go to the rescue, nevertheless swam 20 feet to Miss Sullivan and grasped her as she was sinking.
