Charles B. Stansfield, Jr., 24, gasoline station operator, saved Lawrence P. Hill and John W. Davis, Jr., from drowning, Galveston, Texas, June 28, 1935. Stansfield swam 300 feet to Hill, who was 150 feet beyond the wadable limit, and then swam and pushed Hill for 150 feet to wadable water. After aiding Hill to shore, he waded and then swam in deep water 225 feet to John. Towing John, he swam back to wadable water, where another man relieved him. He was badly winded and tired.
