Charles Stappenbeck, 47, carpenter, died attempting to rescue Frank Pizzini, Jr., 6, from a runaway, San Antonio, Texas, September 23, 1908. The runaway was approaching a dangerous railroad crossing, and Stappenbeck, seeing the boy in the wagon, ran to the street and grabbed the rein close to the bridle. He was struck behind the ear by the shaft and sustained a fractured skull. 2927-240
