Christian J. Fetterolf rescued Dawn M. Queally from assault, New York, New York, May 12, 1993. Ms. Queally, 24, was descending the stairs of a subway station when a man reached over and removed some of her jewelry. She began to struggle with the man. Fetterolf, 24 , college student, also was descending the stairs when he witnessed the assault. He immediately ran to Ms. Queally and fought the assailant. They fell down the stairs. During the struggle, the assailant produced a knife with a six-inch blade and stabbed Fetterolf repeatedly; Ms. Queally also sustained a knife wound. The assailant fled but was later apprehended. Fetterolf was hospitalized a week for treatment, including surgery, of his stab wounds. Both he and Ms. Queally recovered. 67767-7818
