Clarence C. Sponsler, 24, salesman, died attempting to save Ellis E. Sponsler, 22, truck driver, from suffocation, Everett, Pennsylvania, December 16, 1930. Ellis entered a tank that was 10.5 feet in diameter and was overcome by fumes of gasoline. Clarence was called from his place of employment three quarters of a mile away, went to the tank, and descended a ladder to the bottom of it. Almost immediately he was overcome and fell face down in gasoline four inches deep. A half an hour afterward Clarence was removed from the tank. He could not be revived. Ellis was removed and was revived.
