Claude E. Wilson saved Mabel M. Ellison from drowning, Tyrone, Kentucky, June 19,1932. After having swum about 18 feet to wadable water, Wilson, 24, school teacher, who was a poor swimmer, was fully clothed, and was not robust, heard Miss Ellison’s cries for help and noted that Barker had disappeared. He then swam eight feet to Miss Ellison, 37, who grasped him around the neck with both arms, and they were submerged. Wilson broke her hold, and standing on bottom, gave her an upward push. Both rose to the surface, and Wilson swam and pushed her eight feet to the edge of a ledge, on which the water was wadable. She again threw her arms around his neck, and he grasped a willow branch that overhung the water and pulled himself and Miss Ellison upon the ledge. They were then aided to the bank. Wilson was very much dazed and did not recover full consciousness for two hours. (See case of CHARLES C. BARKER.)
