Clois Harold Roberts, 18, schoolboy, died attempting to save M. Claritta Raney, 16, from drowning, Fort Worth, Texas, September 9, 1928. Claritta fell from a moving motor boat into deep water in Lake Worth. A youth swam to her from the boat and supported her for five minutes while the boat, which was awkwardly handled, got farther from them. At the youth’s call for help, Roberts swam 25 feet from the boat to them, and the youth returned to the boat. After Roberts had supported Claritta for a short time, they became separated, and the youth again went to Claritta, taking with him a surfboard on which they were pulled to the boat. Roberts was drowned. 28724-2355
