Curtis C. Dennison saved Linda J. Gardner from burning, Lewisville, Ohio, October 28, 1989. Mrs. Gardner, 38, remained in the front seat of her car after an accident in which the car struck two natural gas meters, rupturing a one-inch line. Having heard the accident, Dennison, 35, truck driver, who lived nearby, went to the scene and, as gas escaped from the line adjacent to the car, forced open a jammed rear door. Bodily entering the car, Dennison grasped Mrs. Gardner and pulled her over the front seat; he then pulled Mrs. Gardner from the car and engulfed the car in flames. Mrs. Gardner was hospitalized five days for her injuries, from which she recovered.
