Daniel N. Parvis died attempting to save Gertrude E. Wiley, 17, from drowning, Albany, New York, May 29, 1917. (See case of ALBERT A. SCHMITT.) Parvis, 18, clerk, who could not swim, ran 200 feet to the lake, removed his coat, and entered the water at about the time Schmitt reached Miss Wiley. He had no knowledge of Schmitt’s act. He waded toward Miss Wiley, reached a point 14 feet from shore near her, and then disappeared under the surface and was drowned. 18719-1444
