David Michael Alder attempted to save Donald E. Moses from drowning, Rome, New York, June 9. 1974. In water seven feet deep 40 feet from the bank of a cove in Lake Delta, Donald, 15, called for help. David, 13, schoolboy, entered the water to give aid but swam past Donald, who had lost consciousness and was floating just beneath the surface. David surface dived briefly but did not see Donald. By then David was tired. When he attempted to float he sank to the bottom and lost consciousness. A 17-year-old girl swam to Donald and towed him to the bank. She then swam to where David had gone under and, after lifting him to the surface, towed him to the bank with the aid of a teacher. Both David and Donald were revived. 54060-6123
