Dennis Shea, 50, laborer, saved Hermenegilde Nadeau, 20, weaver, from drowning, Wilton, New Hampshire, November 6, 1915. Nadeau fell from a bicycle into the Hillsborough Mills Canal and drifted slightly under the surface. Shea, who was fully dressed, ran 250 feet, dived from the bank to Nadeau, and grasped him with one hand. Nadeau grasped Shea’s hand, and they went under the surface. Shea returned to the surface, broke Nadeau’s hold, and swam with him to the bank at a point 75 feet from where he had reached him. Nadeau was exhausted but recovered. 15657-1483
