Donna Jo Adamchick helped to save Suzanne Dillon and Tracey L. Fisher from drowning, Sharpsville, Pennsylvania, July 12, 1969. At a reservoir Suzanne, 13, a very poor swimmer, and Tracey, 6, who could not swim, were in a toy boat which was swamped in water 15 feet deep 36 feet from the bank. Both girls were submerged briefly and then called for help. Their uncle swam to the girls, who struggled with him. He called for assistance. Donna Jo, 17, high school student, entered the water. Fifteen feet from the bank she met Suzanne, who tried to climb onto her and caused her to be submerged briefly. After swimming 10 feet with Suzanne, who then continued to the bank alone, Donna Jo swam back to aid Tracey. DonnaJo was tired and winded by the time she had taken Tracey nine feet to the bank.
