Dorothy E. Goff saved Fern C. Johnston and helped to save M. Elizabeth Winters from drowning, Mt. Morris, New York, July 23, 1918. Fern, 14, and Elizabeth, 13, became distressed in the Genesee River 15 feet from the bank, where the water was 20 feet deep. Dorothy, 16, student, swam 10 feet to them, and they grasped her. She kicked vigorously and sustained them, but she could make no progress with them. A man swam to them, and they became separated, and Dorothy swam with Fern to wadable water.
