While Mrs. McNeill was swimming in Salmon Arm of Shuswap Lake, she unexpectedly got into deep water and lost self-control. After she and a woman who was attempting to help her had been submerged several times, Dorothy swam 35 feet to them. The woman let go of Mrs. McNeill, and Mrs. McNeill grabbed Dorothy around the neck with both arms. Doerothy made futile attempts to free herself, and, by swimming at intervals in the struggle, she finally got to wadable water with Mrs. McNeill. 25755-2088
