Dorothy Jean Bailey saved Paul J. Keehan from drowning, Morrison, Wisconsin, July 11, 1939. While paddling in Branch River, Paul, 14, schoolboy, lost his hold on an inflated tire tube and floundered in water nine feet deep 22 feet from the bank. From wadable water Dorothy, 15, schoolgirl, who was tired, swam 25 feet to Paul, who was under the surface, pulled him up, and towed him toward wadable water. Paul, who was dazed, grasped her clothing; and she was submerged three times. After having swum 25 feet, Dorothy reached wadable water; and she and Paul were aided to the bank. Dorothy then fainted but was revived. 38270-3157
