Duncan J. Campbell, 24, lineman, helped to save Arthur Nystrom, 32, mate, and Herman Peterson, sailor, and assisted in an attempt to save another sailor, 22, from drowning, near Souris, Prince Edward Island, November 8, 1906. Campbell and a companion, in a 15-foot dory, rowed out 600 feet in a bay of the Gulf of St. Lawrence to a wreck, the waves running 15 to 25 feet high, the water strewn with heavy timbers, and the wind blowing 30 m.p.h. They took Nystrom and Peterson to shore after having made a number of futile attempts to throw a line to the third man, who was on a piece of the wreck that had been driven away from the main part. 2901-329
