Eddie L. Watson saved Nicole A. Everman from being struck by a moving vehicle, Clay City, Kentucky, July 25, 1983. Nicole was standing near her family’s concrete-block garage when a pickup truck parked on a grade nearby slipped out of gear and began to roll toward her. Watson, 31, disabled by cerebral palsy, yelled to Nicole to run, but she stood frozen. Watson ran to Nicole and picked her up, but he fell. He then rolled with Nicole out of the path of the truck. Seconds later, the truck crashed into the garage where Nicole had been standing. Nicole suffered minor cuts and scratches. Watson twisted his back and also sustained cuts. Both recovered.
