Edward Delfosse attempted to save Soren Torgerson and Andrew Hanson from drowning, Dykesville, Wisconsin, November 24, 1912. Delfosse, 35, farmer, started to the rescue about the time that Klumb left the wreck. He was in a flat-bottomed boat. Delfosse reached the wreck and put Torgerson into his boat, but he found that Hanson was dead. Delfosse reached a point 400 feet from shore, and then his boat was capsized. Torgerson’s life preserver held him against the seats of the overturned boat, and he was drowned. Delfosse had difficulty in getting up on the bottom of the boat, but he finally succeeded. He drifted 300 feet on the boat and then slipped off in water which reached his chest, and he waded to shore. (See cases of GEORGE DEBAKER and WALRAVEN C. M. MELCHERS.) 9657-1032
